Back in 2020, when the Covid pandemic broke out, our social lives turned inward. Even as things loosened up, friends mentioned that they found it hard to reconnect with new people.
While surfing the net, I came across an interview with a man who wrote a book called “The Two-Hour Cocktail Party".
He found that a simple, two-hour party with light hors d’oeuvres, drinks, and interesting people was wildly successful in introducing people to a whole host of new personalities and faces.
After some reflection, I decided to take his advice. I elicited the help of some friends, and we put together the event called The Salon at Seven Hills.
So what exactly is The Salon at Seven Hills?
First off, it’s a low-key, cocktail party, exactly two hours in length. That means we start, promptly, at 7:00 PM, and end precisely at 9:00. We’ll have cocktails, beer, wine, non-alcoholic seltzer and water, light hors d’oeuvres and snacks.
Name tags will be issued (please wear them) so it will be easy to remember names, and we’ll be doing some easy, verbal, “ice breaker” exercises to help people to connect.
Again, this is not a business networking thing, or a way to fill up your electronic rolodex. That will happen as a side benefit, without anyone actually putting effort into such things.
The event is merely a way to meet someone new, and engage in conversation to learn about what makes them unique. We try to invite people from a wide variety of backgrounds, and talents for you to get to know, in order to keep things interesting.
We plan to host these parties at least every other month, so we're hoping that everyone will find them to be a worthwhile way to spend part of a weekday evening.
Thanks for considering our invitation, and we are looking forward to seeing everyone at the next event.
Sincerely,
Chris and the members at
